InfoSense will be part of the Legacy Village on Monday September 3rd where we will highlight the fundamental partnership between UNC-Charlotte, Charlotte Mecklenburg Utilities, and private enterprise in the development of our acoustic pipe inspection technology.

Legacy Village – Monday September 3, 2012    The Charlotte in 2012 Convention Host Committee is a non-profit, non-partisan organization established by the city of Charlotte to fulfill obligations of the master contract with the Democratic National Convention Committee. In addition to those obligations, Charlotte in 2012 will host CarolinaFest 2012, a free family friendly Labor Day Celebration that will occur in Uptown Charlotte to kick off the convention. InfoSense is excited to announce that our Sewer Line Rapid Assessment Tool or SL-RAT product has been named a winner of the 2012 WEF Innovative Technology Award.   The stringent award criteria require products to “demonstrate an innovative aspect utilizing new ideas” as well as “demonstrate a significant achievement in design, operation, maintenance or process change resulting in demonstrated long-term water quality improvement”, and to have been in field use for one to five years.

Dr. Ivan Howitt, the inventor of the SL-RAT technology commented “this award shows that InfoSense’s acoustic inspection technology is being embraced by the water industry.  And, it is gratifying to be recognized by WEF for the Sewer Line Rapid Assessment Tool’s ability to solve the real-world problems of better assessing aging pipe infrastructure, efficiently directing cleaning resources, and ultimately reducing SSO’s.”

InfoSense Inc at the NCRWA Trade Show

A team of two inspectors showed a South Carolina military installation the meaning of the words “Rapid Assessment” last week. The team, using the InfoSense SL-RAT tool, acoustically inspected 8,000 feet of gravity-fed sewer lines for blockages and full pipe sags between 9am and 2pm.

Our onsite assessment found 1600 feet of pipe that needs to be cleaned in 4 segments – avoiding the cleaning of 22 segments or 6400 feet!
