Developed with a grant from the National Science Foundation and tested with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities, our remote monitoring, SL-CATTM, product line uses a network of stationary acoustic sensors to continuously assess the health of critical gravity-fed sewer line segments – such as pipes running through wetlands or along waterways. SL-CAT can also detect precursors to breakages such as sagging pipes or detect surges – allowing for rapid and proactive remediation. Breakages or surges with no precursors are detected and reported to the utility operator very quickly – drastically reducing the potential volume spilled – and potential environmental disaster.
